My Learning Object

Overall Expectations

By the end of Grade 1, students will:
• estimate, measure, and describe length, area, mass, capacity, time, and temperature, using
non-standard units of the same size;

Specific Expectations
Read demonstrate digital and analogue clocks, and use them to identify bench-mark times and to tell and write time to the hour and half-hour in everyday settings

I used a WebQuest to teach the students how to tell time.  The targeted audience is First grade students.  There are 3 levels in the Webquest and each level could be differentiated if needed to get the students through each level.  The levels are:

  • Level A:  Easiest, most basic first grade expectations
  • Level B:  A little more challenging and going just a little beyond basic first grade expectations.
  • Level C:  Most challenging and going well above basic first grade  expectation
At the end of the WebQuest students will be able to tell why time is so important .  They will be able to read analog and digital clocks fulfilling the overall and specific expectations  of the curriculum.
